Naturalism
Light that feels discovered, never imposed.
Miami · Available across the U.S. & internationally
I build authentic worlds through naturalistic images, romantic and baroque light, and a visual language chosen entirely for the story.

My approach
Every project asks for its own grammar. My background as a sociologist adds an analytical sensitivity to the characters, symbols, and context. From there, I choose camera, movement, lenses, light and color to make that world feel inevitable.
Light that feels discovered, never imposed.
Romantic, baroque and Rembrandt-inspired contrast.
A special affinity for period films, horror and atmospheric fiction.
A colorist’s eye connecting the intention on set to the final image.

About
I am Camilo Buitrago Gil—also known as Fish—a Colombian cinematographer, colorist, photographer and sociologist based in Miami. My work begins with observation: of people, of places and of the way light can reveal the emotional truth of a story.
Beyond the set, adventure motorcycling, travel and history are my greatest interests. Moving through unfamiliar landscapes, meeting people and encountering new cultures continually renews the way I feel the images I choose to create.
I was born in Manizales, a city of dramatic topography at the very heart of the Colombian Andes. Fish came later: a nickname given to me by friends, sometimes for swimming against the current and sometimes for moving with ease through situations others found difficult—como pez en el agua. Perhaps that is why I have always admired the way fish move through water as if gravity did not exist, absolute masters of their universe. The unlikely image of a fish walking through the mountains felt strange, free and unmistakably mine.
